When selling a home from abroad, there is a risk of encountering unscrupulous specialists
Russians who sell their property while abroad run the risk of unscrupulous trustees and the need to process more paperwork. Lawyers and experts in the field of real estate told about this to sellers of objects, reports RIA News.
Experts recommended carefully choosing the person for whom to make a power of attorney, as he may act against the interests of the seller. It is also necessary to indicate in the document a complete list of actions in the framework of the purchase and sale of housing – in order to eliminate risks, it is worth indicating that payment is made to the seller’s settlement account, and not to a trustee.

When issuing a power of attorney in another country, sellers will need additional documents, including translations into Russian. During the search for a buyer, it will be necessary to show the apartment – potential buyers can be brought by a realtor. However, letting a stranger in is considered risky, as it will be difficult to track him while in another country.
Earlier, the project manager of the investment company Garnet, Ekaterina Sivova, recommended that the Russians document every step of the transaction related to the purchase of housing under a general power of attorney. The main risk of acquiring real estate in this case is that this document may be revoked.
