Political scientist Dudakov admitted a reduction in US support for Ukraine
The continuation or reduction of US support for Ukraine after the presidential elections will depend on many factors, American political scientist Malek Dudakov said in a conversation with Lenta.ru. In particular, we are talking about the election results and the situation on the battlefield.
“There are still six months left before the elections, so I wouldn’t get ahead of myself. But don’t think that if former US President Donald Trump wins, he will stop all tranches at once: in April we saw how he and his supporters nevertheless agreed on the allocation of new funds to Ukraine, so I would not call the Republicans ardent opponents support,” the political scientist noted.
Much, according to Dudakov, will depend on the situation on the battlefield. This is precisely what Trump will build on if he wins.
“If he sees that Ukraine is losing, he will try to negotiate with us. If not, support will continue. But he will put pressure on Europe so that they increase their contribution,” said Lenta.ru’s interlocutor.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced a new NATO assistance package to Ukraine. It will be presented at the summit, which will take place July 9-11.
