Manchester United coach Eric Ten Hag has raised controversy again about his future, after leading the team to win the FA Cup, following a 2-1 victory over Manchester City.
Ten Hag was asked whether he thought he would remain in his position, and the Dutch coach replied, “I don’t know. The only thing I do is prepare and develop the team, and this is a project for me.”
Ten Hag added on the BBC: “When I took over, there was a state of chaos, and now the team is in the desired position.”
He pointed out, “Of course, titles are required in football, but I always strive to provide an offensive and enjoyable performance, but what remains important is winning matches and titles. I have tried to stress the necessity of having this character.”
Ten Hag continued, “The FA Cup was our only chance, and we succeeded in exploiting it. I am very proud of the players and the supporting staff.”
The Manchester United coach continued, “All congratulations to the players, after a strong and distinguished performance, and we demonstrated the strength of the team, when there is the largest number of players available. Some were not ready for the match, but they performed well.”
He added, “I always stress through the media throughout the season that when the entire team is ready, we can perform well against the best team in the world.”
He said, “Winning the cup at the expense of a team from the same city makes the achievement more important, but the matter was different for us. We wanted to prove our strength after a number of setbacks, and we actually showed strength and flexibility, so I am proud of the players.”
The Manchester United coach added, “We have already been subjected to unfair criticism, both the team and me.”
Eric Ten Hag concluded his statements by saying, “We played with complete strength in 3 or 4 matches over two seasons, and in the final we were missing prominent players such as Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, and Casemiro.”
