Suzuki S-Cross Hybrid is now offered with the hybrid engine 1.5 140 Va four-cylinder naturally aspirated, Atkinson cycle, with a displacement of 1.462 cm3 which has already debuted on the Vitara. The total power of the petrol engine is 75 kW (102 HP)while the total system power – that is, in combination with the electric motor generator – reaches 84 kW (116 PS). The new hybrid system is combined with a refined AGS robotised gearbox.

Suzuki’s Hybrid 1.5 140V engine consists of three main elements: the four-cylinder naturally aspirated Atkinson cycle engine 1.5 DualJet K15Cthe hybrid module with motor generator 24.6 kW MGUpowered by a 140V traction battery, the AGS robotic gearbox.
All these components were designed and developed by Suzuki to have reduced weight and dimensions as well as to make the most of the potential of the system 4WD AllGrip Select traction. The thermal unit is a new four-cylinder naturally aspirated Atkinson cycle with a displacement of 1,462 cm3 it’s a compression ratio 13: 1. The new AGS robotised gearbox (Automatic Gear Shift) with sequential function is placed between the clutch and the electric motor generator, with which it works in perfect harmony. The electric unit makes shifting from one gear to another less noticeable, modulating the clutch and bridging the void that is usually felt when shifting.
The progression is linear with prompt responses in the brilliant guide. Low weight and simplicity of construction make this solution advantageous even with respect to double clutch transmissions.
Suzuki S-Cross Hybrid battery
There battery has a total capacity of 840Wh and is housed together with all its subsystems in the double bottom of the boot, which thus maintains its volume unchanged.
The battery, of the latest generation of type lithium-titanateguarantees four significant advantages over a common lithium battery: maximum efficiency with a plus wide range of temperaturesgreater efficiency in terms of energy delivered and charged, greater longevity and greater reliability.
The motor generator (MGU – Motor Generator Unit) it is downstream of the gearbox and guarantees traction to the car both independently and in combination with the thermal engine, delivering up to 24.6 kW with a pair of 152.7 Nm. When braking or slowing down, it acts as a generator and recharges the 140V battery.
The picture is completed with theISG (Integrated Starter Generator), which performs the functions of starter motor and alternator, also powering the on-board systems during stops and when driving in electric mode.

Starting and at low speed, the hybrid system makes the new S-Cross Hybrid 1.5 140V move with the only one electric traction. With the battery fully charged, in electric mode it is possible to reach a speed of 80 km / h or cover a distance of up to 4.5 km.
As speed increases, the electric motor leave it to the thermal one the task of pushing S-Cross sailing when the petrol unit is turned off and uncoupled from the wheels.
The DualJet engine and the electric one can sometimes also act together when the driver accelerates decisively, in order to guarantee lively ideas and great driving pleasure.
During the most intense decelerations, the motor generator takes care of regenerative braking and charges the 140V battery, an operation that sometimes also a constant speedusing some of the power of the heat engine.
S-Cross Hybrid 1.5 140V is equipped with a driving mode ECO which reduces consumption and increases efficiency. This function favors electric traction and makes the throttle responses smoother, adjusts the climate control and any four-wheel drive so that they involve less load for the thermal engine.

THE prices of the new one S-Cross Hybrid 140V depart from 32,890 euros (Starview set-up with two-wheel drive). Those who opt for the four-wheel driveprices start at 35,590 euros. The car is available in the Suzuki network starting from September 2022. In the meantime, it is now possible to buy a preview online and at special conditions.
