According to the distribution of recorded speeding violations, the majority of them were violations of exceeding the speed limit by no more than 20 kilometers per hour, while the most serious of them was exceeding the speed limit by more than 80 kilometers per hour.
The speeding violation was followed by four violations that were the most common violations committed last year, which were: failure to wear a seat belt for the driver or passengers, distracted from the road while driving the vehicle using the phone, failure to adhere to the mandatory lane, and parking incorrectly.
Fines for speeding violations range between 300 and 3,000 dirhams, and include: exceeding the maximum speed limit by no more than 20 kilometers per hour, a violation of which will be worth 300 dirhams, and a violation of exceeding the maximum speed limit by no more than 30 kilometers per hour, worth 600. AED 700, a fine for exceeding the prescribed speed limit by no more than 40 kilometers per hour, a fine of 700 dirhams, a fine for exceeding the prescribed speed limit by no more than 50 kilometers per hour, a fine of AED 1,000, and a fine for exceeding the prescribed speed limit by not more than 60 kilometres. per hour, worth 1,500 dirhams and six traffic points, impounding the vehicle for 15 days, and a fine for exceeding the posted speed limit by more than 60 kilometers per hour, worth 2,000 dirhams and 12 traffic points, impounding the vehicle for 30 days, and a fine for exceeding the posted speed limit by more than 80 kilometers. An hourly rate of 3,000 dirhams, 23 traffic points, and vehicle impoundment for 60 days.
The Ministry of Interior, as part of its awareness campaigns to reduce traffic accidents, stressed the need for drivers to fully adhere to traffic rules and regulations, in order to spare themselves and others the risks of being exposed to traffic accidents, and the resulting injuries and unnecessary losses.
She urged drivers to adhere to the speed limit on the roads, noting also the dangers of using mobile phones while driving, whether by talking or sending text messages and chatting.
For its part, Abu Dhabi Police urged drivers to adhere to traffic and safety laws and drive safely on the roads, within the specified speed range to maintain their safety and the safety of road users, stressing that there is a great responsibility on the vehicle driver to avoid accidents and the resulting human losses.
She stressed that driving a vehicle at a speed exceeding the permissible speed is one of the most serious violations that cause accidents, resulting in injuries and deaths on the road, as well as being distracted from the road, using a mobile phone while driving, sudden deviations, and not leaving a safe distance.
It is noteworthy that Abu Dhabi Police uses smart systems and modern radars in traffic control operations on the roads of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi for traffic violations, including violations of excessive speed and failure to leave a safe distance between vehicles.
