Perttu Hyvärinen missed summer vacation on Sunday in Lahti. He admitted that his concentration was not enough until the end in the 20 km (p) joint start race, in which he finished 13th.
The media duties also started to get boring.
“I skied under my feet, then I skied to the finish line. The season was over, so the real competitions. Thank you!” good-natured Hyvärinen finished his race and was already ready to leave the place.
Hyvärinen’s escape didn’t even start when a flood of additional questions stopped him.
The Kuopio native said that he “drove too hard” in the second round, which backfired at the end.
“I went to get points because the top ten was possible in the distance cup. Did it come? I wasn’t lucky, but I barely got out,” he reflected, and he was right: the tenth place in the standard distance Cup was two points away.
Perttu Hyvärinen drove too fast.
About good hatched a full popular favorite at the latest in the World Ski Championships. The extremely likable skier has flashed his lingering humor before, but this winter the slapstick and general banter accelerated into new spheres.
The popularity could not be missed even on Sunday. Hyvärinen praised Salpauselkä’s audience from the ground up.
“I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this situation. Incredible encouragement. I like it when an athlete is received incredibly well when things are going well. When things go badly, the feedback is direct.”
Hyvärinen said that she saw drawings and other artworks depicting his mustache along the track. He responded to the admiration by throwing his gear into the main stand of the Lahti ski stadium.
Hyvärise was asked if the situation has gotten to the point where she has to be afraid of underwear flying from the stands.
“That’s what I’ve been waiting for, but it hasn’t appeared. The winter sport is bad for that.”
Perttu Hyvärinen plans to keep his cult-famous mustache.
I like it the world cup season was strong enough that he earned record prize money, just under 13,000 euros.
“Doesn’t the prize money go towards paying off the loans: there are plenty of mortgages, money and such. Even the interest rates have risen nicely now. I can spend them to the last penny, he assured and then announced that he was ‘going away’, among the audience”.
