The Suomen Cup is contested at Puijo in Kuopio.
Skier Krista Pärmäkoski reveals interesting information on his Instagram account regarding Saturday's Finnish Cup race, which will be skied at Kuopio's Puijo.
Pärmäkoski is going to the race with its new ski brand Madshus mono.
“Tomorrow is also a good hard workout, not least because I get to test Madshus' new mono+side system,” Pärmäkoski writes in his publication.
In the new in mono and binding, it's about the attachment point not being at the tip of the mono but under the tail. The side, on the other hand, is higher than in previous models. Norwegian Madshus has been another company that has developed mono. The other is Rottefella, who is also from Norway.
The attachment is believed to improve the power output of the skating kick.
“The new mono binding combination makes it possible to produce more force in the ski frame during the final phase of the skating kick,” said the sales manager of Parmax oy, the importer of Madshus and Rottefella Pasi Kivilahti last week in the published story.
In addition, according to the study, the position should become more upright.
“Such observations have been made in university studies in Norway and from feedback from competitive skiers. Skiing from a slightly more upright position means that the back and front thighs and lower back are not stressed in the same way as in previous mono-side models,” said Kivilahti.
The combined effect is believed to be that skiing becomes more economical.
Sanoma's skiing expert Harri Kirvesniemi believed that the potential benefits would emerge above all in competitive skiing.
“I can't quite believe in the revolution, but if it would achieve a calculated benefit of, say, one percent. Even then, that would bring an advantage already in the ten kilometer journey, even though it hardly gives you terrible benefits on the downhills,” Kirvesniemi said appreciatively.
Kuopio In the Finnish Cup, 12 kilometers of free skiing will be skied on Saturday. Pärmäkoski sets off with number 91, the last to start the women's race.
The women's competition starts at 1:05 p.m. and the men's at 2:35 p.m.
