Police have been investigating Rick’s speed during the Aventador crash. What seems? He was still driving too fast.
Rick van S. is of course known as the man who makes cars factory new, but we also know him as the man who totaled his Aventador on the A28. And that while he was just driving neatly at 100 km/h. At least, that’s what Rick himself claimed.
Police findings
The police had some difficulty believing Rick’s blue eyes, so in May it was announced that he would be prosecuted. In this context, the police also conducted an investigation, and the results are now known.
What seems…? Rick is not very good at estimating his own speed. According to the police’s findings, he must have been driving between 262 and 330 km/h. So about three times the permitted speed. And then a bump like that on the A28 can be hard.
Consequences
This of course has consequences for Rick. Because the insurance did not pay out anything, he had already suffered a major financial setback, but now he also faces community service and a driving ban. In any case, that is the requirement.
If it is up to the public prosecutor, Rick will receive a community service order of 150 hours and a driving ban of one and a half years, of which six months will be conditional. According to the officer, Rick drove “ridiculously fast” and thus endangered the lives of others.
Own assessment
Rick also slightly adjusted his own estimate of his speed during the Aventador crash. According to him, he had not looked at the odometer, but he was driving at most 200 km/h. However, based on analysis of the traces and damage, the police came to different conclusions.
To give evidence
Witnesses have also been heard. For example, there was a witness who stated that he heard the co-driver say that they had driven 314 km/h. Strangely enough, the co-driver himself was not interviewed by the police.
Punished enough?
Rick himself thinks he has been punished enough. In addition to the fact that his Lambo was written off, he also lost customers and received thousands of death threats. He also did not dare to drive for a long time, according to his lawyer. He therefore pleads for acquittal.
We will know on November 6 whether the judge actually decides that Rick is pathetic enough (probably not). Then Rick van S. will hear his final verdict.
