Morena challenges the elections in Guanajuato due to violence during the campaign
The political leadership of Morena in Guanajuato announced this Thursday that it will challenge the electoral result after losing the governorship of the State. The party denounces various irregularities such as violence during the campaign, intervention in the governor’s race (Diego Sinhue Rodríguez, of the PAN) and the use of social aid to win votes. Morena’s candidate, Alma Alcaraz, lost the elections by more than 10 points compared to the candidate of the PAN-PRI-PRD coalition, Libia Denisse García.
The main representatives of Morena in Guanajuato have criticized the violence that surrounded the electoral process protected by a strong National Guard device during the press conference they gave in León, the most populated city in the State. The party accuses that the various incidents that occurred during the campaign, such as the murder of the candidate for mayor of Celaya, Giselle Gaytán, influenced the vote.
The current PAN governor of Guanajuato has also been singled out by Morena, which accuses him of politicizing the murders of candidates for electoral purposes. The other complaint has been against the Pink Card, financial aid for women that, according to the guinda party, the Government of Guanajuato used to buy votes.
