The co-creative director of Redfall, Harvey Smithwas interviewed by IGN and on this occasion revealed new details on the expected title Arkane.
Smith immediately talks to us about the story, stating that it will not undergo major changes based on the player’s choices, for this reason there will be a unique ending. However, the choices of the players will have the same impact, as depending on the actions there will be different dialogues between the characters. Arkane has come up with a dubbing system in which the dialogues will be combined with each other, this to provide unique exchanges for the different characters.
Smith then confirmed that players will not be able to change the choice of their characters once the adventure begins, but will be able to create various characters. “If you start the campaign with Layla, for example, you are bound to Layla throughout the campaign, the side missions, the entire flow of the game, up to the endgame.“says Smith.
As for the cooperative mode, the progress in the story will be recorded only for the host of the game, while the equipment and upgrades unlocked will not be lost.
Regarding progression, characters will have skill trees that will “force” players to make very specific choices. Weapons will become more powerful with weapons of increasing rarity.
Finally, the stealth, a feature that could prove useful during the game, even if Redfall is above all an action-based title. Stealth may not always be the best tactic, but it could come in handy in more difficult encounters or when the character is badly injured.
Redfall doesn’t have a precise release date yet, but it will arrive on PC and Xbox Series X / S in the course of 2023.
