Rally The last round of the World Series season ended on Sunday morning in Japan with Toyota’s party.
The team drove to a triple victory in its home race. Elfyn Evans was number one before Sebastien Ogier and Kalle Rovanperää. Hyundai’s Esapekka Lappi was fourth.
The differences at the top were already clear on the final day, and no real battle was seen anymore.
Rovanperä had already secured his second consecutive world championship before the final race. With his victory, Evans took the World Championship silver ahead of Hyundai Thierry Neuville.
Toyota also won the manufacturers’ world championship.
Rovanperen the contract situation has been a hot topic at the end of the season. According to some speculations, Rovanperä would no longer drive the full World Series next season, but at the finish line of the World Rally Championship in Japan, a significant hint about the future was heard from the Finnish star.
