Poland will complete the “Eastern Shield” project on the border with the Russian Federation and Belarus by 2028
Warsaw plans to complete the Eastern Shield project to strengthen the border with Russia and Belarus by 2028. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Defense of Poland Cezary Tomczyk. He is quoted RIA News.
According to the official, part of the costs, which will amount to 10 billion Polish zlotys (about $2.5 billion), will be covered from the European Union (EU) budget.
“We want to complete the project by 2028. Material costs – 10 billion zlotys. We want the funds to come from the country’s budget, as well as a large part from EU funds, because this project will ensure the security of the European Union and NATO,” he said.
Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that the country’s eastern border should be made “impassable for a potential enemy.”
