PlayStation 5 finally added the requested low latency auto mode featurewhich increases the performance of games on newly manufactured screens.
This feature comes with the update 22.01-05.50.00so now you can choose whether you prefer better performance or better image quality.
What Auto Low Latency Mode does is disable any type of image processing your screen hassince trying to improve the signal it receives can delay the response of the games even for a few milliseconds.
According to the remake notes, released by Sony, now you can adjust the options from your console by accessing settings -> Display and video -> Video output -> ALLM.
If you prefer to avoid the process, you can activate the automatic mode so that the screen starts this function when you start playing.
Are all screens compatible with the new PlayStation 5 feature?
The idea of having better performance sounds pretty good, but you should know that not all screens are compatible with it.
Regularly, the models where it works are those with HDMI 2.1 inputsso check if this is your case so that you get the most out of the update.
Interestingly, the Sony console is not a pioneer in adding the automatic low latency mode, since the Xbox Series X and S consoles included it since its launch.
Turning it on may not immediately make a difference, especially if you’re just playing casually, but if you’re a fan of competitive titles you should have better accuracy and timing of your moves.
