The end of September is coming and that means only one thing for anime fans, the release of Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zeroa game that raises expectations more with each advance due to the combat possibilities that the developers have put in place. We have a large number of confirmed characters at this time, and despite everything, some are not happy with everything that this release offers to those who are going to buy their copy on day one.
The game’s producer, Jun Furutani, recently confirmed that the title will feature a total of 12 maps at launch, which has generated some criticism from fans, who were hoping to see more iconic scenarios included from the start.
The game has managed to capture attention for its vast roster of over 180 characters spanning all series, as well as its new gameplay mechanics and the ability to create custom battles. However, the lack of crossplay and the limitation of co-op mode to the Time Chamber had already left some players dissatisfied. Now, the reduced number of maps compared to previous games, such as Budokai Tenkaichi, has been a cause for disappointment.
Fans have expressed their frustration through platforms such as Reddit and Twitter, where many have highlighted the absence of emblematic places such as the Beerus’ Planet, Kame’s House and the GlacierSome have even shared wish lists with locations they hope to see in future updates, such as the King Kai’s Planet, the Serpent Path and Planet Vegeta. Although Furutani suggested that more maps could be added post-launch, but fans are lamenting the omission of these scenarios from the start.
Is it just me or having only 12 stages is this game’s first major L ? I know that the maps are sophisticated and different from the previous games but I’m not even talking about having all the stages from BT3. Just feel like some are definitely a must like Beerus Planet, the Glacier, Outer Space…

Despite these criticisms, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero remains one of the most anticipated releases by the community. The promise of a massive cast and dynamic battles is enough to keep the excitement going. However, it remains to be seen whether future patches and updates will manage to meet the expectations of those hoping for a more complete and nostalgic experience.
Remember that it is launched on October 11 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
Author’s note: I think this game puts more emphasis on characters and there shouldn’t be a problem with the maps to choose from. Although yes, it would probably have been appreciated to add at least 20.
