Pescara murder, the lawyer of one of the alleged killers: “He did something bigger than himself”
“The boy is in shock, absent, cold to his emotions, but I think it’s normal, he’s a boy who is perhaps realizing that he has done something bigger than himself.” At the end of the validation hearing at the Juvenile Court of L’Aquila, the lawyer Marco Di Giulio who assists one of the two minors accused of killing Thomas Christopher Luciani talks about his brief meeting with the boy. “I already spoke to him on Sunday night, I find it normal that he can’t handle it well, but I know that he is well supported by the institutions, and little by little he will come out of this black hole. The only smile I got from him was when I brought him his greetings from your girlfriend”.
“In these meetings I didn’t ask him many questions because then the investigations do the talking. They reported a gun in the backpack, but so far it hasn’t been found – continues the lawyer Di Giulio – Today he made use of the right not to respond, then we’ll see.” Di Giulio recounted the heartbreaking meeting with his carabiniere father: “And ‘a servant of the State, a good servant of the State and he is as if he had hit a train. It should be reflected that sometimes you think that certain things can only happen to others and instead you discover that the protagonist is you”
Pescara murder, arrest confirmed for suspects
The arrest of the two 16-year-olds investigated in the investigation into the murder of Christopher Thomas Luciani, found dead last Sunday in Pescara, in the Baden Powell park, was validated by judge Roberto Ferrari. The two, defended by lawyers Marco Di Giulio and Roberto Mariani, they exercised the right not to respond. The 16-year-olds are under investigation because “in competition with each other, they inflicted – we read in the provision of prosecutors David Mancini and Angela D’Egidio – a total of approximately 25 blows with a knife on Thomas Christopher Luciani, drawn from vital areas of the body, causing death, causing torture and operating with cruelty by kicking and spitting on Luciani while he was lying lifeless on the ground”. The medical examiner, Cristian D’Ovidio, has just left the juvenile court where the chief prosecutor David Mancini gave him the task of carrying out the autopsy on the boy’s body: “I have 60 days, now I’m going to do the autopsy” .

What until a few hours ago was a hypothetical reconstruction is now supported by evidence, four of them photo in which the murderers of Thomas Christopher Luciani at the seaside after the crime, before the “liberating bath” and the defeat of the knife. As reported by Corriere della Sera, in the arrest order against the two minors accused of murder, the dynamics of the crime is reconstructed in four moments: at 4.46 pm the two alleged murderers enter the park. A few minutes later they are joined by other boys; at 4.48pm the boys enter the vegetation. Among them there is also Thomas. There are no surveillance cameras to frame the scene, but when all the young people come out of the vegetation, there is no trace of Thomas.
At 5.21pm the last to leave was a “tall boy with dark hair with a baseball visor, a pair of dark Bermuda shorts and a black undershirt with white writing on the front and sides and white shoes who was walking along the parallel driveway to via Raffaello Sanzio, heading north”. He is the alleged murderer. At 6.21pm one of the two alleged murderers is photographed at the “Croce del Sud” establishment. He changed his clothes. Shortly afterwards she goes to take a bath, as the witnesses will say. “Subsequently indifferent to what happened”, we read in the reconstruction, “together with other friends”, the boys involved in the murder “went together to the bathing establishment”, where they then “got rid of the knife, throwing it over the breakwater”.
A chilling reconstruction, where “the absence of emotional empathy emerges forcefully with an event of such unprecedented brutality, such that he railed against the body, going to the bathing establishment to swim in the sea, without calling for help or reporting the fact to the authorities, or rather chat with macabre irony about the event that has just happened, with the further intention of getting rid of the murder weapon, a knife with a point and cut”. Up until now, the families of the alleged murderers have spoken, people from the “Pescara well”, belonging to the police force and the forensic “caste”. No one has justified their children, amidst pain and amazement at what happened: the brother of one of them explained that he does not want “any reduction in sentence”, while the lawyer mother of another simply “believes that justice will run its course.” And everyone hopes so, for Thomas Christopher Luciani.
