Peacemaker came to HBO Max and conquered the audience with just eight chapters. The series exposed the wildest side of the DCEU and introduced us to the character of John Cena as few would have imagined after the events of The Suicide Squad.
The contract killer surprised the audience from his first appearance in the film of James Gunn for his orthodox methods of bringing about peace. As he explained, the end justified the means, but that mentality of his has been changing over the course of the show.

As we saw in the eighth and final episode of the season, peacemaker he was tempted to join the Butterfly, as they share a similar philosophy of peace. However, he rejected the proposal and murders ‘the cow’, the invading aliens’ food supply.
This moral dilemma shocked fans. Although the antihero understood the mission of these creatures, he had a feeling that such a regime would only lead to humanity being hurt directly or indirectly.

This is how we saw how the two-dimensional character became more complex after no longer seeing the world in black and white. That could be the beginning of the path for the Peacemaker to become a hero and retire as a hitman.
At the same time as this evolution, fans have recognized James Gunn’s work in taking a forgotten character, revamping him and making him the star of his own show. Guardians of the Galaxy and Suicide Squad were good precedents, although this time he did it again with one of the DCEU’s most intractable personalities. The result: total success.
