Ramallah (Al-Ittihad)
Yesterday, the Palestinians commemorated the 76th anniversary of the Nakba, with large popular marches in various major cities in the West Bank, which they called “the Marches of Return.”
In the city of Ramallah, the march began from the tomb of the late President Yasser Arafat to Al-Manara Square in the city center, with the participation of thousands of people carrying Palestinian flags, and a massive public festival was held in the city center in which a number of Palestinian faction leaders spoke.
Participants in the festival paused for 76 seconds of silence at midday, as an expression of the 76 years of the Nakba.
Similar marches took place in various cities in the West Bank. The slogans raised at the marches focused on calling on the world to intervene to stop the war in the Gaza Strip and Israeli violations in the West Bank.
In this context, China said yesterday that “despite 76 years having passed since the Palestinian Nakba in 1948, the historical injustice against the Palestinian people continues to worsen.”
This came as part of statements by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin, during a press conference held in the capital, Beijing.
