Author is Senator Plínio Valério (PSDB-AM); list has 37 favorable signatures of congressmen
The President of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), read this Tuesday (4.Apr.2023) the request for the installation of the CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry) to investigate the performance of NGOs (non-governmental organizations) in the Amazon.
The author of the application (full – 347 KB) was Senator Plínio Valerio (PSDB-AM). The list of signatures for the creation of the collegiate has 37 senators. The minimum number needed to install the commission is 27 congressmen in the Senate. Read below who signed.
“Denunciations do not stop arriving at our office on a daily basis: NGOs received resources for indigenous health that were not applied, lack of transparency and accountability in the resources received, use of donated resources to enrich a few or deviations in purpose. These are some of the irregularities committed by these organizations that operate in the Amazon, earn money and tarnish the image of Brazil abroad”, Plínio Valério told journalists.
The CPI is legally created after reading it from the President of the Senate. The next step will be the appointment of members of the collegiate by party leaders. The committee will be composed of 11 members and 7 substitutes.
