Brazilian striker Neymar underwent surgery this Thursday (2), after suffering a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and injuring his meniscus during the match between Brazil and Uruguay in the World Cup qualifiers.
The 31-year-old was forced off during the match two weeks ago before an MRI scan confirmed the extent of his injuries.

“The team led by Dr. Rodrigo Lasmar, medical head of the Brazilian men’s football team, will perform the surgery at Mater Dei Hospital, in Belo Horizonte,” declared the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) in a statement before carrying out the operation.
After the surgery, the Brazilian striker published a message on his social media profile stating: “Everything went well. Thank you for the messages and now it’s time to focus on recovery.”
Neymar joined the Saudi Arabian league in August for 90 million euros, but the former Barcelona (Spain) and PSG (France) player only played five games because he was battling muscle injuries.
