The gray chick was already stuck in the ice on Tuesday. It had reached the ice on its own, but was unable to continue the journey.
According to eyewitnesses, the mother swan had kept the channel open all night from a distance of about fifty meters. It had been over 10 degrees below zero at night.
Emergency services called for help on Wednesday at two o’clock in the afternoon. The cub was exhausted from trying to get out of the jam for so long.
The employees of the rescue service broke the ice so that the cub could be pushed to its mother. The mother swan supervised the operation next to the rescuers.
However, the adversity had a happy ending and the swans were able to swim further out to sea in open water.
