Movimento União BR, an organization specialized in creating emergency hubs throughout Brazil, has been operating in Rio Grande do Sul since the region was affected by heavy rains. The work is being carried out in partnership with the RS state government, Civil Defense, local NGOs and solidarity kitchens and aims to assist impacted families in an emergency.
According to a note sent by Movimento União BR, aid is going to the cities most affected by the rains, such as: Alvorada, Arroio do Meio, Bento Gonçalves, Cachoeirinha, Canoas, Caxias, Charqueadas, Colinas, Cruzeiro do Sul, Esteio, Estrela , Gravataí, Jaguari, Lajeado, Montenegro, Muçum, Porto Alegre, Rocca Sales, Santa Maria, Santa Rita, São Jerônimo, São Leopoldo, São Sebastião do Caí, Sapucaia do Sul, Triunfo, Venâncio Aires and Vera Cruz.
Among the partners, Movimento União BR is receiving help from the following companies and entities: Instituto Helda Gerdau, Febraban, Vibra, Itaú Unibanco, Instituto Stone, insurers Zurich and Zurich Santander, Latam, Fedex, XP inc, Ultragaz, Grupo Boticário, Ypê , Seguradora HDI, Esportes da Sorte, Instituto Far Hinode, Instituto Lojas Renner, BrazilFoundation, pharmaceutical company VITAMEDIC, VNP Advogados, Grupo Trigo, Fundação Gerações and Instituto Carisma. The Children’s Institute is the campaign’s financial manager.
The work of Movimento União BR in Rio Grande do Sul began as soon as the rains impacted the cities in September 2023. The entity had already delivered more than 300 thousand cleaning items, 190 thousand nutritious dehydrated meals, 600 mattresses, 26 thousand vitamins , tons of food, gas, forklift and pallet truck for the structure of Civil Defense warehouses. In total, the Movimento União BR had already invested more than R$6 million in the state.
