Happy Friday for the Mooney VR46 Racing Team at the Australian GP with Marco Bezzecchi immediately at ease on his debut with the second position in the combined ranking of the timing of Day-1. 20th instead Luca Marini which suffers most from the strong wind that characterizes the day. Very fast from the morning session (P10, 1’31.166 ed) on the Ducati Desmosedici GP, Marco conquers the momentary access to tomorrow’s Q2 (02.35 pm local time, 05.35 am CET ed) thanks to a best lap time of 1 ‘ 29.513 and a delay from the provisional pole of only 38 thousandths (Zarco, 1’29.475 ed). A more challenging Friday for Luca, in P22 after FP1 (1’32.831 ed) and for the first time on the track in Australia with MotoGP. In a very short ranking, he stops the clock at 1’30.725 satisfied with the progress made in the last run of the afternoon.
Luca Marini: “A first approach that is not easy, I would say an uphill Friday without being able to find the sensations I was looking for driving. We worked hard and, in the last run of FP2, I made some progress that I will try to exploit tomorrow for FP3 and qualifying. Let’s start from here: the goal for the last free sessions is to stay on track as much as possible and make some steps forward also on the pace for the race. Let’s hope the weather doesn’t play tricks on us ”.
Marco Bezzecchi: “A beautiful day and a great track. We made an excellent step forward between the sessions: Matteo, Sergio (Flamigni and Martinez ed) and all the Ducati technicians did a great job and I was able to really ride as I wanted in FP2. I am fluid, soft and I can handle movements and vibrations well. We are still missing something, we can better manage the tire wear, which is crucial on the long run, and also the wind. The braking of the first corner is really difficult, as well as the straight and the T3, but we can work on it“.
