In MotoGP, the moment of the season is particularly hot. Not only for what concerns the fight for the world title between Fabio Quartararo, Francesco Bagnaia and Aleix Espargaro, but also for the future of the calendar of the top 2-wheel category.
This morning, in fact, Dorna announced that it has signed a five-year contract with Kazakhstan. The new location will host a grand prix starting next season.
The track chosen to host the MotoGP is the Sokol International Racetrack, a track located in the middle of the Kazakhstan countryside.
The MotoGP calendar is thus destined to expand further, going beyond the 20 races scheduled for this year.
It is no coincidence that over the last few days Dorna Sports has announced plans for a grand prix in India and a memorandum of understanding has been signed to bring MotoGP to Saudi Arabia in the coming years.

This is the official press release issued by Dorna Sports this morning: “The FIM MotoGP World Championship is coming to Kazakhstan!”.
“2023 marks the beginning of a new five-year agreement that sees MotoGP land in a new region of the world, with the arrival of the splendid Sokol International Racetrack on the calendar”.
“Located just outside Kazakhstan’s largest city, Almaty, Sokol is a brand new motor complex built in the heart of Central Asia.”
“The region will be a new pitstop for MotoGP, while the sport continues to expand around the world, involving new markets and fanbases.”
“Kazakhstan will also become the 30th country to host a motorcycling grand prix since 1949, a perfect number to celebrate the ever-expanding history of the first motorcycling world championship, and the Sokol International Circuit will be the 74th place in host a premier class Grand Prix “.
The full 2023 calendar will be released later in the season, but it is certain that it will start on March 26, 2023 in Portugal. Qatar, the place that traditionally opens the season, has been moved further forward to allow professionals to complete the required upgrades to the Losail track.
