Regular ejaculation is essential to maintaining prostate health, says Urological Care Foundation committee chair Anne Calvaresi. In an interview with Metro she called norm of sexual activity for men.
She said studies showed that men who had orgasms 21 times a month had a 20 percent reduced risk of prostate cancer. Those who ejaculated four to seven times a month, on the other hand, had a higher chance of getting sick, the expert said. She pointed out that there is no convincing explanation for this phenomenon, but there is a theory that harmful chemicals are washed out of the body along with sperm, which accumulate during irregular ejaculation.
Calvaresi suggested that the reason may be that men with high sexual activity are more likely to lead a healthier lifestyle, do not smoke, do not drink and play sports.
