The president of the Generalitat and leader of the PP in the Valencian Community, Carlos Mazón, celebrated this Wednesday the first anniversary of the popular victory in the regional and municipal elections of May 28, 2023. The quick agreement reached with Vox allowed him to reach The presidency. It was the first that occurred between the popular and the formation of the extreme right after the elections. An agreement that Mazón defended yesterday because it is “working well”: “I feel very proud of the entire Consell. Not only of the counselors of the PP, of the entire Consell.” “We always tend to be in absolute agreement, then there are nuances, issues,” he continued in a morning event organized by COPE and the CEU Cardenal Herrera University. “I feel very proud of having implemented changes, if someone is ashamed, that is their problem,” he added about his unapologetic relationship with the extreme right.
The possible pacts of the conservatives with the extreme right parties are starring in a good part of the campaign for the European elections on June 9. On Monday, the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijó, criticized the anti-Europeanism of Vox, the party led by Santiago Abascal, and that its MEPs have voted against the migration pact in the European Union. With this argument he advocated possible pacts with the party of Italian President Georgia Meloni, which is pro-European. At the same time, he defended the government pacts of the PP and Vox in five autonomies because his entire electoral program is being “fulfilled” without “contradictions, and” there is political stability.
The Valencian president was in good spirits throughout the day of the anniversary of the PP’s victory. At an event at the La Fe Hospital in Valencia, he thanked the “professionalism, commitment and effort” of the retired healthcare personnel. To everyone’s surprise, he started singing the song. 33 years, by Julio Iglesias, remembering his years as a member of the musical group Los Marengo, which in 2011 was preselected to represent Spain in Eurovision.
In the evening, there was a bath of militants and popular officials in the afternoon. To the rhythm of the Spanish version of the SI will perché you lovethe Valencian president took the stage of the Palau Alameda to applause, accompanied by the mayors of the three capitals – María José Catalá (Valencia), Luis Barcala (Alicante) and Begoña Carrasco (Castelló de la Plana) – and the presidents of the provincial councils provincials -Vicent Mompó (Valencia), Toni Pérez (Alicante) and Marta Barrachina (Castellón)-.
Mazón highlighted that the PP won in 28M in cities where “they said it was impossible” such as Valencia, Elche or Castelló de la Plana. “We have not done this to occupy others’ seats. The trip was not about winning for the PP, it was about winning for everyone,” he emphasized and encouraged to “finish this campaign” of the European elections and “complete the change.”
During his speech he assured that the PP offers a “project of germanor” in which he “offers to serve” the Valencians. “There is nothing that we are not implementing that we have not announced and that is not representing a real change; not of words or tones, but of policies,” he stated, and demanded measures such as tax reductions – “people are deducting more taxes than ever” –, freedom of choice of center and language in education or the reduction of high positions.

In a state key, Mazón reiterated that “in the Community there is no longer a Generalitat that remains silent when ignored” and has once again rejected “the invasion of Catalan Countries not by land, sea, air or anywhere.” “Enough of the jokes with the Valencian Community. We are no longer silent with the disdain of Sánchez, of Ribera, of water, of Cercanías, of ceramics, of investments, of financing…”, he proclaimed.
