Some people are calling for an SPD health minister, Karl Lauterbach. ZDF presenter Markus Lanz suddenly brings a different name into the debate.
Hamburg – May he? He is not allowed? May he? He is not allowed? That is the question! Corona expert Karl Lauterbach (SPD) wants to become the new Federal Minister of Health in the traffic light coalition of Olaf Scholz (SPD). The epidemiologist and physician has repeatedly confirmed this. But that very Scholz has so far persistently left the vacant position open, although it is known that the ministerial post in the future cabinet will go to the Social Democrats.

A representative survey by the Civey Institute recently showed that 59 percent of all Germans would like to see Lauterbach as the successor to the previous head of department, Jens Spahn (CDU). In the RTL trend barometer, the Rhinelander was listed as the fourth most popular German politician at the beginning of December – after Executive Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU), soon-to-be Prime Minister Scholz and Greens boss Robert Habeck. And the hashtag #wirwollenkarl has been going viral on Twitter for months. But: is the 58-year-old really allowed to prove himself?
Mr. Lanz, now we’re so speculative.
This question persisted on Tuesday (November 30th) ZDF man Markus Lanz in his eponymous program. He did not leave SPD General Secretary Lars Klingbeil alone and instead brought up another name for the job in the federal government. “Could it also be that it will be a health minister in the end?” Lanz asked directly, as usual.
Klingbeil replied: “We will announce our ministers on Monday.” Then suddenly the name of the alleged health minister, no, the alleged health minister, was mentioned.

“Can you think of anything in connection with the name Andrea Nahles?” Lanz asked without further ado: “Could she do a good job as Minister of Health as well?” Klingbeil looked visibly surprised and said: “Mr. Lanz, now we’re so speculative . Of course, Andrea Nahles could do a good job in many ministries, as health minister or labor minister, but she has said goodbye to politics. ”

Lanz did not give up, started again: “But could she…” Klingbeil interrupted the native of South Tyrol: “There are many, many suitable people in the SPD who can hold ministerial positions.” Lanz used this as a cross pass: “Ms. Nahles belongs to?”
Klingbeil again: “Ms. Nahles has shown that she is a good minister.” Lanz combined: “That means you are not excluding Andrea Nahles as health minister?” Klingbeil countered: “We will get a good person for this position.” On Monday On December 6th, St. Nicholas Day, the decision will be made. Would a Chancellor Scholz then present a Minister Lauterbach to the many supporters? (pm)
