The act was marked by protests against the “anti-abortion” PL and the drug PEC; state deputy Eduardo Suplicy participated
Protesters in favor of the decriminalization of marijuana use gathered this Sunday (June 16, 2024), on Av. Paulista, in São Paulo, to participate in the 16th edition of the Marijuana March. This year, the motto of the event was “Creating a Future Without War”.
In addition to the imposing cigarette-shaped balloon, with the phrase “fire in the bomb” and the traditional posters in favor of legalization, participants protested against the approval of the PEC (Proposed Amendment to the Constitution) for drugs and the “anti-abortion” PL (Bill).
On Wednesday (June 12), the CCJ (Constitution and Justice Committee) of the Chamber approved the PEC 45 of 2023 which prohibits the possession and possession of all drugs in any quantity. On the same day, the plenary approved the urgency from PL 1,904 of 2024which equates abortion after 22 weeks of gestation to the crime of homicide, even in cases of rape.
The march started at Masp (São Paulo Art Museum). The journey ended at Praça da República.
The state deputy Eduardo Suplicy (PT-SP) participated in the event. On his official Instagram profile, the politician said that he is “I urgently need to debate legalization” of the plant.
The federal deputy Ivan Valente (Psol-SP) also attended the march. He stated that “the prohibition and criminalization of the possession and consumption of marijuana are a civilizational delay”.
The prohibition and criminalization of marijuana possession and consumption are a civilizational delay that the Brazilian State insists on sponsoring. One more, among many. The world is moving towards legalization and this is the direction we must move towards!
