The 17th edition of the March for Jesus in Rio took thousands of faithful to the city center, this Saturday afternoon (May 25, 2024). With the slogan “The Strength of the Union”, the event was promoted by Eat (Council of Evangelical Ministers of Rio de Janeiro).
The governor of Rio de Janeiro, Claudio Castro (PL), federal deputy and pre-candidate for Mayor of Rio Alexandre Ramagem (PL-RJ) and pastor Silas Malafaia attended the event.
The public began gathering at 2pm on Avenida Presidente Vargas, near Avenida Passos. Afterwards, the group went to the stage set up in Praça da Apoteose.
Caravans of faithful arrived by bus, subway and bus, coming mainly from Baixada Fluminense. Animated by 6 electric trios, which started with songs in pop and axé styles, people headed towards Praça da Apoteose.
Márcia Barreto, from Ministério Apascentar, in Nova Iguaçu, said that she has participated in the event for 12 years. She was accompanied by her 9-year-old son and her 11-month-old granddaughter, who she was pushing in a stroller.
Elderly people preferred to watch the party sitting in the stands of sectors 12 and 13, which were full.
The first gospel singer to perform, just before 5pm, was Thalles Roberto. Then it was Eli Soares’ turn. The presentation continued with Samuel Messias, DiscoPraise, Valesca Mayssa, Lukas Agustinho, Bruna Karla, Gospel Night, Davi Sacer, Stella Laura, Marcus Salles, Arthur Callazans, Adriano Gospel Funk, Kailane Frauches, Sarando a Terra Ferida, Nesk Only, Brunno Ramos and 2meter.
The March for Jesus was held for the first time, in Rio, in 1998. On September 3, 2009, National March for Jesus Day was established. On January 11, 2011, the event became included in the city’s official calendar.
TRAFFIC
O Rio Operations Centerthrough CET-Rio (Rio Traffic Engineering Company), set up a special traffic scheme in the city center. 74 traffic operators participate, including agents from the Municipal Guard, CET-Rio and traffic supporters.
The Supervia concessionaire and Metrô Rio followed the Saturday schedule.
