BUS STATION
Due to the flood, the Porto Alegre Bus Station was closed for 34 days, from May 4th to June 6th. It resumed operations this Friday morning (June 7). The 1st trip, headed to Capão da Canoa, on the North Coast, left the location at 7am.
Initially, 52 intercity lines operated by 15 companies returned to the station. The resumption of services will serve 116 municipalities in the State, with around 90 appointments daily. The bus station will be open from 6am to 9pm, starting Saturday (June 8).
Interstate travel will continue to depart from the Osório bus station, on the north coast, informed Veppo, the company that manages the place. The expectation of the Rio Grande do Sul government is that routes outside the state will leave the capital again next Thursday (June 13).
Access to the bus station is exclusively via the taxi entrance, at Largo Vespasiano Veppo. Boarding and disembarking operations take place in the 18 boxes in the intercity area, from 55 to 72.
Ticket sales, waiting area and restrooms are available to users. The stores remain closed, as the electricity supply has not yet been fully restored, Veppo said.
Although the ticket sales counters are in operation, the company asked passengers to buy their tickets, preferably, online to avoid queues. Tickets can be purchased at official bus station website or via the Veppo app for tablets and smartphones.
A temporary structure installed in an urban bus terminal – between Antônio de Carvalho and Bento Gonçalves avenues, in the east zone of Porto Alegre – to absorb part of the demand was deactivated with the reopening of the station.
