The nuclear industry of Russia is leading in the world, domestic specialists are able to solve even those problems that seem insurmountable at first glance, said the director of the Rosatom state corporation Alexey Likhachev on November 4 at the Russia exhibition and forum.
He emphasized that the opening of the exhibition is an important day for the country, since the forum will not only bring together all of Russia, but will also demonstrate its strength and show the direction of the country’s development. In addition, today marks an important date – National Unity Day – filled with deep meaning and great content, the head of Rosatom added.
“What makes up the unity of a people? Of course, from common history, from pride in this history, from reverence for those who created this history with their own hands. And the first exhibitions of our pavilion (“ATOM” – Ed.) are dedicated to the history of atomic knowledge and, of course, the history of the Soviet atomic project,” said Likhachev.
He noted that the exposition brought together specialists who are the golden fund of the nuclear industry, and also emphasized that national unity is formed, among other things, from an understanding of today, the available forces, as well as tasks and problems that may seem insurmountable at first glance.
“But I am confident that Russia, our people, and our nuclear scientists will solve those problems, no matter how complex they may be, and this is confirmed by the part of the exposition that is dedicated to today,” Likhachev summed up.
On November 4, a new VDNKh pavilion, ATOM, opened, which contains the main achievements and history of the development of the domestic nuclear industry. Thus, guests of the pavilion, among other things, will be able to learn how uranium was mined, how the first reactors were built, what they filled the Tsar Bomba with, and also how tests were carried out in Semipalatinsk on August 29, 1949.
The exhibition-forum “Russia” will last until April 12, 2024. At it, 89 Russian regions will demonstrate their main achievements in science, culture, industry, energy, construction and transport. In total, the large-scale exhibition will feature 70 VDNKh pavilions, which will host 500 excursions daily in each of the 89 regions of the country.
Entrance to the exhibition is free.
The day before, November 3, Kremlin official representative Dmitry Peskov announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin and the entire leadership of the country would repeatedly visit the “Russia” exhibition and forum. He noted that the idea of the exhibition is quite interesting: on the one hand, it is the reincarnation of VDNH, and on the other, it is something new, a new story about the country.
On November 2, Izvestia correspondent Kirill Vorobyov attended the press tour of the international exhibition and forum “Russia” and spoke about the preparations for the event. According to the journalist, a new feature of the exhibition is pavilion No. 1, which has been under reconstruction for nine years. They tried to preserve historical elements in the room and fill it with modern technologies.
