The Republic of Korea announced on Monday that it will begin issuing a Korean cultural training visa to foreigners on a trial basis during the current year, and will consider introducing a new work visa with the aim of attracting more tourists from abroad.
The Korean news agency Yonhap quoted the Korean government as saying that this step will be part of the comprehensive measures it is offering and also calls for simplifying entry procedures and developing various tourism programs to better meet the needs of foreign tourists and enhance their comfort.
She explained that under the plan, the government will launch the so-called Korean Culture Training Visa that will be available to people who want to come to the country to participate in training programs in K-pop music, choreography and other cultural sectors.
She added that the government will consider expanding the scope of the digital nomad visa, so that foreigners can work remotely while traveling in the Republic of Korea, and its trial operation has been implemented for a year since last January, in addition to expanding the infrastructure for issuing visas and other entry procedures to enhance the comfort of foreign tourists.
She stated that the government will work to ease regulations regarding tourist group requests for a K-ETA or Electronic Travel Authorization that foreign visitors without a visa need to obtain before entering the country.
