Tunisian Ons Jabeur, ranked tenth in the world in tennis, will miss the Paris Olympics next month, preferring to rest her knee, according to what she announced.
The runner-up of three major championships posted a message on social media explaining, “After consulting with the medical team regarding participation in the Olympic Games in Paris, we decided that a rapid change in terrain and adaptation to the body would put my knee at risk and harm the rest of the season.”
The twenty-nine-year-old, who participated in the London Olympics in 2012, Rio in 2016, and Tokyo in the summer of 2021, continued, “I have always loved representing my country in any competition, but I have to listen to my body.”
The best Arab player underwent surgery on her right knee in 2023.
This season at Roland Garros, on a clay court, where the Olympic tennis competitions are held, she reached the quarter-finals, where she lost to the young American Coco Gauff.
