Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei announced the creation of “formidable drones” by Iran and praised the work of the program’s specialists. On Wednesday, October 19, the agency reported Bloomberg.
“When photographs of Iranian drones were published a few years ago, there were words that this was a photomontage. Now these drones are called formidable,” he said.
On the same day, the agency spoke about the plans of the European Union (EU) to impose sanctions on three Iranian generals, as well as the developer of shock drones Shahed, which are allegedly used by Russia in Ukraine.
At the same time, the Politico newspaper wrote that the European Union had developed a package of sanctions against five Iranian citizens and three companies involved in the production and supply of weapons. It is expected that the restrictions will be agreed no later than October 21.
On October 18, Reuters reported that the United States, Britain and France plan to raise the issue of Iranian arms supplies to Russia at a closed session of the UN Security Council. They believe that such supplies violate Security Council resolution 2231.
The Washington Post also reported that the first Iranian drones that could be used in a special operation in Ukraine allegedly arrived in Russia on August 19. Presumably, we are talking about devices of the Mohajer-6 and Shahed series.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov denied this information, noting that The Washington Post “publishes a lot of information stuffing lately.” At the same time, Peskov said that relations between the Russian Federation and Iran “are developing dynamically.”
