He was in the company since its inception, playing different roles in various installments of the saga.
It is difficult to understand Game Freak, and therefore Pokémon, without Junichi Masuda, but from today we will have to get used to the idea. The Japanese developer announced a few hours ago his departure from the Japanese company where he has been since its foundation more than 30 years ago, being one of the fathers of Pokémon Red / Pokémon Blue and exercising different roles of responsibility in the franchise, from composer to director.
Masuda has been appointed creative director of The Pokémon Company, where he is expected to use his deep knowledge of the franchise to develop new services and products, but before that the Yokohama already wanted to express his most sincere thanks to the fans of the saga, remembering how he has served as director of the series in several of its installments, such as Pokémon Ruby / Sapphire and Pokémon X / Y, and helped develop many other video games, including the successful Pokémon GO.
“In the future, I hope to go beyond the limits of video games trying to bring more surprises, fun and excitement to people all over the world, while doing my best to connect people, widen the circle of ‘game’ and help create a richer world to share”, he continues in his Masuda message.
Today Pokemon Scarlet/Purple trailer
The announcement of Masuda’s departure comes hours before a key date for Pokémon Scarlet / Pokémon Purple, the new installment of the saga scheduled for this year. And it is that for this afternoon the publication of a new trailer is announced.
No clues have been given as to what we will see in the preview, but after a first preview full of references to its setting, Spain, the national public can expect to see more nods to this land, as well as some of the most outstanding novelties of the video game. Pokemon Scarlet/Purple no release date yet.
