This Sunday (19), Brazilian Michel Augusto secured qualification for the next edition of the Olympic Games, which will be held in Paris (France). The vacancy came after the lightweight had a good campaign on the first day of the Judo World Cup held in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates).

The 19-year-old athlete accumulated 220 points in the Olympic ranking after winning two fights and stopping in the round of 16, when he lost by ippon to Olympic runner-up Yeldos Smetov, from Kazakhstan.
“I wanted to thank everyone who supported me. I did my best here at the World Championships, but it wasn’t this time, I wanted to come away with a medal, but I came away with important points to earn my Olympic place”, declared Michel Augusto.
The SESI-SP athlete has among the main results of his career the gold medal at the 2023 Pan-American Games, held in Santiago (Chile), gold at the Pan-American and Oceania Championships in Rio and silver at the Grand Prix of Portugal 2024.
