British Prime Minister Boris Johnson refused to resign from his post despite calls by ministers in his government for him to step down, British media reported on Wednesday.
Johnson’s cabinet delegation met in the wake of dozens of resignations from his government.
Johnson pledged to stay focused on “the very important issues facing the country”.
Journalist Anushka Astana said on Twitter, citing sources in the British Prime Minister’s office, that Johnson would face any confidence vote but would resign if he lost it.
The Ministers of Health and Finance, Sajid Javid and Rishi Sunak, announced their resignations, minutes apart, on Tuesday evening. Other members of positions below the government, including three with the rank of state secretary, withdrew on Wednesday, bringing the total number of resignations to more than ten.
