Nine people arrested in Jerusalem during a protest against the Israeli government. This is the outcome of the clashes that occurred between protesters and the police. CNN reports it. Some arrested people are accused of attacking the officers, while at least four attempted to set fires. The clashes occurred during the anti-government demonstration that took place in Azza Street, Jerusalem. Some participants attempted to break the barrier erected by the agents to protect the area of the Knesset, the Israeli parliament, and the area where the official residence of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is located.

Netanyahu dissolves the War Cabinet
After Benny Gantz’s exit from government, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dissolved the War Cabinet. A move to curb the wishes of the Minister of National Security – and hawk of the radical right – Itmar Ben Gvir who for some time had had his eye on the body, a true command center in the war against Hamas and against Hezbollah in Lebanon. The mini top structure – five people in all – was established on 11 October 2023, just 4 days after the Hamas attack on the southern kibbutzim. And he immediately saw Gantz’s entry following his decision to be part of the national emergency government, born with the war. But, after Gantz’s recent step back, the prime minister has chosen the path of dissolution given that Ben Gvir’s requests to be part of it at all costs have become increasingly pressing, followed by the other radical right exponent and finance minister Bezalel Smotrich. The predictions being made – according to the same sources – is that the prime minister will increasingly resort to limited meetings for the purpose of “consultation” which have already taken place with ministers Yoav Gallant, Ron Dermer, both former members of the War Cabinet, and with the head of the National Assembly Tzachi Hanegbi, one of Netanyahu’s closest advisors.
There remains the political Cabinet which will continue to deal with decisions related to the war, including those on negotiations for a possible ceasefire and the release of hostages, according to the roadmap relaunched by American President Joe Biden. If Gaza, together with the release of the hostages, remains Israel’s main dossier, the clash with Hezbollah in Lebanon has now taken on the tone of the utmost urgency. For this reason, Biden’s special envoy, Amos Hochstein, arrived in Israel – before continuing to Beirut – with the aim of cooling the situation as much as possible. Israel has repeatedly said that if the diplomatic option for Hezbollah’s withdrawal beyond the Litani River does not prevail (based on UN Resolution 1701) it will not hesitate to wage open war.
