Inter won the Italian Football League title for the 20th time in its history, defeating its arch-neighbor, host Milan, 2-1, at the conclusion of the thirty-third stage competitions.
The goals were scored for Inter by Francesco Acerbe (18th), Frenchman Marcus Thuram (49th), and for Milan by Englishman Fikayo Tomori (80th).
Inter raised its score in first place to 86 points, moving away by 17 points from runner-up Milan, which it could no longer catch with 5 stages before the end.
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi made two changes to his squad, and included those absent due to the suspension of Frenchman Benjamin Pavard, and Argentine Lautaro Martinez as starters instead of German Jan Pesek and Chilean Alexis Sanchez, similar to Milan coach Stefano Pioli, who put Algerian Ismail Bennacer and Frenchman Olivier Giroud on the bench. Instead, he brought in French midfielders Yassin Adly and Dutchman Tijani Reynders.
Inter opened the scoring after a corner kick from the left side, taken by Federico Demarco, and Pavard headed it to the second post, followed by an unmarked Acerbe who also headed into the net (18), for his third goal in the league this season.
Martinez, the top scorer (23 goals), almost added the second, but his ball went over the crossbar (25).
Milan waited until the 29th minute to worry its guest, after a counterattack in which the ball reached Portuguese Rafael Leao, who shot it and was caught by Swiss goalkeeper Saint-Sommer.
Thuram hit the left post of his compatriot Mike Manian, Milan's goalkeeper, after a pass from Nicolo Barella (38), before Sommer shone two minutes later by blocking a powerful shot from Davide Calabria.
Thuram added the second with a shot from his right foot at the edge of the area (49), raising his tally to 12 goals this season in the league.
Defender Tomori restored hope to Milan by reducing the difference with a header, after goalkeeper Sommer excelled in saving the first header from Matteo Gabbia (80).
Sommer made a mistake in catching the ball, after a cross pass, and it fell in front of the goal, and Swiss substitute Noah Okafor almost destroyed Inter's hopes, but his shot with his right foot did not find the net (83).
The referee blew the whistle for Inter to win its 20th title in its history, after Milan's French defender, Theo Fernandez, and his counterpart in the visiting team, Dutch substitute Denzil Dumfries, were sent off after a clash between them in the third minute of stoppage time, before he raised the red card again in the face of the Milan defender. The other is Calabria because he slapped Davide Fratesi (90+7).
