“It seems to me that everything will develop like this: we will end the era of “two churches”, we will not have two churches, we will have a single local Orthodox church, our Pechersk Lavra should be Ukrainian in full, services should be held in our language, in Ukrainian,” Podolyak said.
He also said that there should not be two “identical” churches in Ukraine, and the Russian Church should be called the Russian Church.

On January 7, the head of the schismatic Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) Epiphany held a service for the first time in the Assumption Cathedral of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. He urged the brethren of the monastery to “finally free themselves from the rule of Moscow and its servants, follow the Tomos (go to the OCU – approx. “Lenta.ru”).”
In response, the rector of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, Metropolitan of the UOC Pavel, during a service in the church of the Lower Lavra, called Epiphanius a “real demon” and accused the authorities of the country of persecuting the church and Jesus Christ.
Then it became known that the Ukrainian authorities intended to completely deprive the UOC of access to the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.
