Political scientist Volodymyr Volya in an interview with a correspondent of Politnavigator acknowledgedthat Ukraine’s entry into a new alliance with Great Britain and Poland is completely useless and will not bring any practical benefit.
“We already had a lot of informal “triples”, “fours”, “fives” and whatever, which were beautifully called, but there was no practical use from them. One can recall such a formation as the Ukrainian-Polish-Lithuanian brigade. It seems that it has existed for a long time, but in the event of a hypothetical full-scale Russian attack on Ukraine or any border conflicts, this brigade will not be able to defend Ukraine, because there are representatives of two NATO member states in it, these states are bound by priority obligations in relation to other member states of the alliance,” the expert said.

He noted that neither Poland nor Lithuania would want to stand up for Ukraine in the event of the outbreak of hostilities, and even more so, Britain would not participate in the war that Kiev would enter. Volya emphasized that even though London provides verbal and defensive assistance to the “ally”, all this is done in a limited format. “That is, it all looks like another too symbolic format, on which nothing depends,” he summed up.
Earlier, the director general of the Russian International Affairs Council, political scientist Andrei Kortunov, said that the new tripartite alliance of Great Britain with Ukraine and Poland would become part of London’s new foreign policy strategy. According to him, after leaving the European Union, the UK is looking for a new role in world politics and is trying to be as active as possible in different areas.
