With 270 million inhabitants, in Indonesia Sunni Muslims are the majority and only around 12% of the population belongs to religious minorities: Christians, Shiites, Buddhists and Hindus, among others. These religious communities have historically coexisted in peace, but in the last two decades, radical Sunni groups have attacked minorities: more than 600 incidents of violence have been documented since 2014.
