His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of the Executive Council and Chairman of the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre, confirmed that the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center plays a pivotal role in the pioneering Emirati missions and projects in the space sector, which aim to strengthen the UAE’s national programme. This came while His Highness chaired a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre, where His Highness discussed developments in the centre’s ambitious missions and future programmes.
During the meeting, His Highness discussed the strategic directions related to the development and launch of satellites, including the “Mohammed bin Zayed Sat” satellite, scheduled to be launched next October, and the “HCT – SAT1” satellite, which is a nanometer satellite dedicated to Earth observation, which is being developed in cooperation with colleges. Higher technology, where a number of students are working on it under the supervision of a team from the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center, as part of the center’s efforts to promote space technology in the field of education.
His Highness was also briefed on the latest developments in the work on the “Emirates Gateway” pressure equalization unit, after the UAE joined the lunar space station development project. His Excellency Lieutenant General Talal Belhoul Al Falasi, Vice President of the Center, and His Excellency Hamad Obaid Al Mansouri, Chairman of the Center’s Board of Directors, presented to His Highness a frame as a gift from Senator Bill Nelson, Director of the American Space Agency NASA, and it includes the flags of the United Arab Emirates and the United States of America, which reached orbit.
