The Israel Defense Forces stated that Hamas launched at least eight missiles against the city of Tel Alviv this Sunday (26). It was the first air strike carried out by the Palestinian terrorist militia since the end of January.
According to the Israeli military, the shots came from Rafah, in the south of the Gaza Strip, and several rockets were intercepted.
The offensive, however, did not leave any injuries or cause major damage – only damage to some houses, as there are no buildings in the affected region.
In a message posted on Telegram, Hamas claimed responsibility for the attacks. According to the Ezedin al Qasam brigades (the armed wing of the extremist group), the shooting was “a response to the Zionist massacres against Palestinian civilians”.
The group also said, in another statement, that its fighters captured Israeli soldiers in Jabalia, in northern Gaza. The Israeli Army denies this and says there is no evidence of any such incident.
On Friday (24), the International Court of Justice, the UN’s highest court, ordered the interruption of Israel’s military operations in Rafah.
But Benjamin Netanyahu’s government rejected the determination and continued bombings in the region – under the allegation that Hamas continues to hide terrorists and store weapons in the city.
