Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola wrote his name in golden letters in the Champions League record, when he set a new record by reaching the semi-finals for the ninth time in his coaching career, to be the most coach to reach the “gold square” of the Champions League.
According to the network “Opta” for statistics, Guardiola has become the most coach to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League in history, followed by Carlo Ancelotti and Jose Mourinho in second place in the list of coaches who have qualified for the semi-finals of the Champions League with 8 times each.
Guardiola has already reached the semi-finals 4 times with Barcelona, 3 times with Bayern Munich, in addition to twice with Manchester City.
Manchester City qualified for the Champions League semi-finals, after defeating Atletico Madrid with a goal in the aggregate of the two legs.
Despite reaching the semi-finals eight previous times, Guardiola did not win the Champions League except on two occasions with Barcelona, the 2008-2009 and 2010-2011 seasons. The Spanish coach reached the final of the continental competition with “City” last season and lost the title to Chelsea.
