The German authorities have decided to stop the certification process of the Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. This was announced by Chancellor Olaf Scholz. His words lead TASS.
He stated that he instructed the Ministry of Economy to contact the regulator. “Today I asked the Federal Ministry of Economics to withdraw the report on energy security from the Federal Grid Agency,” the Chancellor said. Scholz pointed out that this is “a necessary step so that certification of the gas pipeline cannot now take place.”
The day before, Ukrainian President Zelensky announced the need to completely stop Nord Stream 2.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees recognizing the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics (DNR and LNR), as well as treaties of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance with the republics. After that, US President Joe Biden signed a decree on new sanctions after Russia recognized the independence of the DNR and LNR.
The ban includes new investments by US individuals and legal entities in the DPR and LPR, export, sale or supply from the States or by American citizens of any goods, services or technologies to the republics of Donbass.
