Baja California Sur.- A fire registered in the town of Santiago, in Los Cabos, Baja California Surleft damage on more than 40 homeshaving spread over at least 50 hectares.
It was during the afternoon of yesterday, Friday, March 4, when the fire began that left damage to at least 40 residences in Santiago, Los Cabos. During the early hours of this Saturday, according to what was reported by local authorities, the flames were put out.
Regarding the incident, the governor of Baja California Sur, Victor Castro Cosioannounced that, fortunately, there were no fatalities or injured people as a result of the fire. Likewise, he pointed out that elements of the Mexican Armed Forces and the municipal and local security and emergency authorities worked together to put out the flames.
“Currently, more than 250 brigade members from the different security and emergency care institutions are working. There are 10 units of heavy machinery and 5 trucks still working, plus 15 reserve tanker trucks,” he detailed in his official Twitter account. Twitter.
The state president emphasized that the fire that started on Friday is one of the most complex that has occurred in Santiago and throughout the federal entity, informing that they will work together with the local government to support the affected population.
“Yes, we had material damage that is being quantified. It is one of the most complicated fires we have had in Santiago and Baja California Sur, but all the authorities are helping to support the population,” he said.
Castro Cosío pointed out that they are vigilant of the climatic conditions of Santiago, due to the wind that runs in the region, in order to prevent the fire from rekindling, for which he asked the citizens who live in the area stay alert and take due precautions.

For his part, he indicated that the damage assessment work has already begun with the aim of being able to give the necessary support to the families whose houses were affected by the fire, whether they presented total or partial losses in their private homes.
