In launching the version on the Italian market Hybrid of 600, Fiat has thought of one thing in particular: customer centrality. Because this, in fact, was the public’s request: as much as it was appreciated, the fully electric version of this B segment could not be enough to satisfy the needs of all those who were and are looking for a car of this type. And so here comes the Fiat 600 Hybrid, which the Turin company itself defines as “the more Fiat than ever“, rigorously Made in Turin having been designed, designed and engineered in the Piedmontese capital.
Hybrid powertrain
Dwelling on the aesthetic aspect of the car doesn’t make too much sense: in fact it is identical to the BEV version, with the only difference that, jokes Giuseppe Galassi, Managing Director Fiat & Abarth, “one has a muffler while the other does not”. The heart of this Hybrid version of the 600 is obviously its hybrid engine: based on a combustion engine from 1.2 liter which delivers up to 100 HPis completed with a 48 Volt lithium ion battery and the new 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission, which includes not only the 21-kW electric motor, but also an inverter and the central transmission unit. As for performance, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h occurs in 10.5 seconds, while driving in full electric mode can be continued for approximately 1 kilometre.
Why Fiat 600 Hybrid
“The Hybrid version of the new 600 is essential to compete in segment Bwhich has been home to Fiat for decades and which has over 23 million customers for our brand in Europe, of which more than half in Italy, and represents the most important for the Italian market today with 780,000 potential customers every year – Galassi said – The market is evolving and those looking for a B segment are not satisfied with just having a compact car. Our strength is sharing: not surprisingly, it is built on Stellantis’ CMP2 platform. Our values are creativity, beauty and above all innovation, the latter being fundamental to be able to compete on the current market. We want electric mobility to be accessible to everyone, and at the same time we aim to offer the best technology of the moment, what the market therefore needs, to satisfy customer needs. In short, we are pushing towards electric but we want to stay flexible and accessiblewhich is why we consider the Hybrid to be an intelligent and easy-to-use solution.”
Two setups
On the Italian market, the Fiat 600 Hybrid is offered in two different trim levels: that standard, which features 16″ wheels, 10″ DAB radio with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, 7.0″ color TFT digital cluster, manual climate control with pollen filter, cruise control, rain sensor, rear parking sensors and emergency braking; and the The First version, which adds to all this 18″ alloy wheels, wireless smartphone charging, color therapy, heated front seats, automatic climate control, keyless entry-go system, “hands-free” tailgate, 6-way driver’s seat with massage function and lumbar adjustment , adaptive cruise control, front, rear and side parking sensors, and rear camera with 180° view. To all this, two optional packs can be implemented: Comfort and Style.

The price list starts from 24,950 euros and goes up to 30,950 euros. With Stellantis Financial Services, the new 600 Hybrid is accessible on the Italian market with a fee starting from 99 euros per month for 36 months in the event of a trade-in, with 30,000 kilometers included and a down payment of 2,990 euros. Thanks to the financial solution proposed to support the launch, the customer will be able to benefit from a leasing with a advantageous rate starting from 3.99%, in addition to the choice, at the end of the contract, whether to redeem the car or return it. Last, but not least, the possibility of combining a wide range of insurance products and flexible services, including RCA, Theft and Fire and many others based on needs.
How it rides on the road
We drove the new Fiat 600 Hybrid on a mixed route of around sixty kilometres, which took us from Milan to the province of Bergamo in just over 45 minutes. Between urban roads and the motorway, the behavior of this B-segment car has always been precise and linear. Acceleration is ideal given the type of car: certainly, the engine’s reaction time to each of our inputs on the accelerator pedal was not immediate, but it is also true that we are talking about a car that certainly does not aim to conquer the customers looking for performance and sportiness. Internally, however, interacting with the infotainment display proved to be a lot intuitive: on the other hand, we are talking about a screen that is anything but impressive in terms of size, so we would have been surprised otherwise.
Consumption and emissions
The gearbox is fluid, with the choice of positioning the gear selector under the dashboard “within fingertips” which has proven to be winning. The driving position, however, is quite raised, not necessarily a weak point of the car, on the contrary. Talking about spaciousness and load capacity, the promises have been respected: the new 600 Hybrid can comfortably accommodate 5 people, boasts 15 liters of internal compartments (complete with a best-in-class front storage compartment) and has a boot with 385 liters of capacity. In terms of consumption, we are just a little under 5 liters per 100 kilometresAs for emissions, 109 grams of CO2 per kilometer are expected in the combined cycle.
