The March for Jesus in Rio de Janeiro, in its 17th edition, took thousands of faithful to the city center, this Saturday afternoon (25). The public began to gather, from 2pm, on Avenida Presidente Vargas, near Avenida Passos. Afterwards, the group went to the stage set up in Praça da Apoteose. Caravans of faithful arrived by bus, subway and bus, coming mainly from Baixada Fluminense.
Young people sang praises and gospel songs, animated by six electric trios, which headed towards Praça da Apoteose. Even at the beginning of the event, bus caravans arrived to participate in the march, which began with songs in pop and axé styles. With the slogan “The Strength of the Union”, the event was promoted by the Council of Evangelical Ministers of Rio de Janeiro (Comerj).
Families arrived complete to participate in the event. Artisan Aline Souza, 44 years old, from the Nazareno Church, in Nilópolis, came by car, along with her husband, her 13-year-old daughter and her mother-in-law. She arrived around 5pm and went straight to Praça da Apoteose, where the singers perform. Even with cloudy skies and the threat of rain, Aline said she would only leave when the event ended, around 10pm. “I came here to [ouvir] gospel songs, rap and samba. I lost the show from Waguinho, who performed on top of an electric trio, but now I’m not leaving here anytime soon.”
Márcia Barreto, from Ministério Apascentar, in Nova Iguaçu, also in Baixada, said that she has participated in the event for 12 years. She was accompanied by her 9-year-old son and her 11-month-old granddaughter, who she was pushing in a stroller. “I arrived at Marquês de Sapucaí and walked to Apoteose to watch the shows.” Elderly people preferred to watch the party sitting in the stands of sectors 12 and 13, which were full.
The first gospel singer to perform, just before 5pm, was Thalles Roberto. Then it was Eli Soares’ turn. The presentation continued with Samuel Messias, DiscoPraise, Valesca Mayssa, Lukas Agustinho, Bruna Karla, Gospel Night, Davi Sacer, Stella Laura, Marcus Salles, Arthur Callazans, Adriano Gospel Funk, Kailane Frauches, Sarando a Terra Ferida, Nesk Only, Brunno Ramos and 2meter.
