Euro elections|The early voting percentage barely exceeds the figures from five years ago. The rush has still not been seen.
Russian the EU elections electrified by the attack and the otherwise tense world situation seem to have gotten Finns to vote a little better than last time. The actual rush has still not been seen.
After the polling stations closed on Sunday, five days of advance voting have passed, and so far, those entitled to vote have cast their votes according to the results service of the Ministry of Justice 14.2 percent.
The number doesn’t sound like much, but it still beats 2019’s pace.
Published on May 18, 2019, found in HS archives of the article according to the last time the turnout was 11.5 at four days. In this year’s vote, the balance after four days, i.e. on Saturday evening, was 12.5 percent and increased to 14.2 percent on Sunday.
On Saturday and Sunday, there were half as many people voting as on weekdays.
Women have voted more actively than men in advance this time as well.
There were as many early voting days in 2019 as now and they fell on the same days of the week.
In the year In 2019, the voting percentage of people living in Finland in the EU elections was 42.7. Politicians have hoped that the big contribution of this time’s elections would raise the figure to over 50 for the first time.
However, it would require a final letter from the voters.
In the 2019 elections, 21 percent of those entitled to vote voted in advance, i.e. half of all those who cast their votes.
There is no reason to assume that the popularity of early voting has at least decreased. Therefore, the realization of more than 50 percent voting activity would probably require more than 25 percent early voting activity.
Early voting ends Tuesday, June 4. On Thursday, the busiest early voting day so far, 3.8 percent of eligible voters cast their votes.
Keeping up with more than 50 percent would therefore require that the busyness at the polling stations on Monday and Tuesday would significantly exceed the previous days.
In 2019, the last early voting day was clearly the most popular of the early voting days.
The actual election day is next week, Sunday, June 9. In the election, 15 representatives from Finland will be elected to the 720-seat European Parliament.
People were queuing at the early voting place for the European elections on Saturday in Tikkurila, Vantaa.
