French President Emmanuel Macron, during a telephone conversation, called on Russian leader Vladimir Putin to complete the special military operation currently being carried out by the Russian Armed Forces on the territory of Ukraine and Donbass. This is reported on September 11 website Elysee Palace.
“On this occasion (telephone conversation), he condemned the continuation of Russian military operations in Ukraine and recalled his call for their prompt termination, the start of negotiations and the restoration of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” the press service reports.
It is reported that the French president also expressed his concern about the situation that is unfolding around the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant (ZNPP) and once again asked Putin to withdraw Russian troops from the station.
According to the press release, Macron plans to have another phone call with Putin in the near future.
“President Macron will continue contacts with President Zelensky and with the Director General of the IAEA. He will also have a new conversation with President Putin in the coming days in order to find an agreement that would guarantee the safety of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, ”the press service of the French leader reports.
Earlier, on September 11, Vladimir Rogov, a member of the main council of the administration of the Zaporozhye region, noted that artillery strikes on the territory of the ZNPP had become pure classics of military terror by Ukraine. He clarified that only in September, Ukrainian militants fired at Energodar and the territory of the ZNPP 26 times, and the fire was fired from heavy artillery.
The day before, on September 10, the authorities of the Zaporozhye region reported that Kyiv was deliberately creating problems for the operation of the ZNPP in order to put it out of action and stop it.
A day earlier, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi called for an immediate cessation of all shelling in the area of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant due to the critical situation in the power supply of the station. According to him, the energy infrastructure that feeds the city of Energodar, where NPP operators and their families live, has been destroyed as a result of shelling.
Zaporozhye NPP was taken under the protection of Russian forces during a special operation to protect the Donbass, the beginning of which Putin announced on February 24. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian military.
